Monday 1st February saw the arrival of the iconic replica locomotive ‘Rocket’ at Bitton.The locomotive which is due to stay until Thursday is visiting for “running in” trials after a boiler replacement work at the Flour Mill, Lydney.The arrival of the locomotive was greeted by a large crowd of enthusiasts and the BBC filmed its arrival and a trip up to Meadow Court Crossing.The locomotive department have had an interesting couple of days with its arrival, clearing sidings for it to gain access to the main line and learning how to control the engine with its primitive brakes and reverser.You may be able to see the locomotive in steam along the Railway until tomorrow, Thursday 4th February; however the public will not be able to ride behind ‘Rocket’.Anyone who has any pictures or videos of ‘Rocket’ who would like to share them through our website, please email them to newseditor(at)avonvalleyrailway.orgPhoto copyright A Stone
