2009 End of Season Gala - Sunday 1st November
The annual Avon Valley Railway’s End of Season Gala, being held on Sunday 1st November, will see a guest engine from one of the other ‘Big Four’ companies this year.
The Gala will see visiting locomotive GWR Small Prairie No.5521 hauling passenger and freight trains over the three mile line as part of an intensive timetable, combining with other steam and diesel locomotives and the line’s Diesel Multiple Unit.
The following locomotives will be in service:
- GWR Small Prairie No.5521
- Chrzanow 0-6-0T No.4015 'Karel'
- RSH 0-6-0T No.7151
- Ruston Hornsby 0-6-0DH No.429
- BR Class 07 No.D2994
- BR Class 107 2-car DMU (No's 52025 and 52006)
Timetable
A full timetable detailing both the freight and passenger services will be available FREE to all fare paying passengers. Timetables will also be available, in person, from Bitton Station for £2 from Monday 26th October.

Fare Information
Tickets for the event can be purchased on the day at Bitton Station or on-board the train from our Travelling Ticket Inspectors. There is no need to book in advance for this event. Tickets cost:
- Adult - £7.00
- Child - £5.50
- Over 60 - £6.00
- All other types of single and return tickets will not be available
- All discounts/privileges will be withdrawn for the day, including, but not limited to; Kids go Free, AVR Family vouchers, Members' Complimentary tickets and Premier Gold discounts.
Booking Conditions
- Whilst every effort will be made to maintain the timetable the Company does not guarantee that the trains will depart at the times stated, and reserves the right to cancel, alter or suspend any train without notice or to substitute any locomotive. No liability for loss or inconvenience can be accepted.
